[Toy Review] SHIELDER MASH KYRIELIGHT - Fate Grand Order Petitrits Model Kit (Partly Painted)

Shielder Mash Kyrielight from Fate Grand Order is here in her Petitrits model kit form. This is the first Petitrits model kit made by Bandai. She is one of the easiest kits to build but I had some difficulties hand painting some of its parts.

The top of the box shows a nice artwork of Mash with a cloudy purplish background.

Box bottom

The bottom is blank.

One side of the box

The sides of the box shows more stuff like product shots of the kit and other info.

Time to build!

Packaging includes:
- 2x runners
- 2x Sticker sheet
- Instruction manual

Recommended tools:
- Nippers
- Scissors/X-Acto knife (or something similar)
- Sand paper
- Paint, thinners and paintbrushes/air brush/spray paints (optional)

Be careful when you use model kit building tools. If you're a kid, have a parent or older sibling to assist you while building Gunpla or any model kits. And read the instructions properly to avoid building errors that might result to broken parts/pieces.

THE BUILD/FIGURE

Viewing Mash at four sides.

I'm not a fan of the Fate series but I heard that Mash is artificially made to be a servant... I'm not really sure. This is her well-known look. Her design looks really nice and simple.

Even her one eye covered with her hair, she still looks cute.

The face have a neutral expression and her right eye is covered by her pink-purple hair. The eyes are stickers, yes she have both eyes. I top coated the face with a clear matte finish

Mash's "reverse-ahoge"

Her pink-purple hair looks nice and have a single strand of hair that stands out a bit. It's kinda like a reverse-ahoge. This strand is a separate piece. I suggest that you glue this part. I applied a combination of gloss and matte clear paint on the hair.

Mash's armor

She's wears black minimal armor. Her armor is really detailed I painted some small details with purple paint and I used a clear top coat to make the armor glossy.

Back of the armor.

The back is also detailed. I also painted the "V" armor detail with purple paint.

Front part of the skirt armor.

The armor is skirted and this part is also detailed.

Back of the skirt armor.

There are some small detail if you look closer and peek underneath the armor's skirt. I painted the lining on Mash's undies with purple paint.

Mash's arms

Her armor is sleeveless so her shoulder is exposed. For exposed skin I just used a matte top coat. The gauntlets looks good and detailed with some armor linings and rivets.

Mash's arm guards have purple long gloves underneath.

The gauntlets have a long gloves underneath, I painted them with purple paint. I used a sticker on the small part of the left arm (see the arrow).

Long armored boots.

The leg armor looks really good and detailed too. Again I applied clear top coat on them after painting (sloppily) some linings with purple paint.

Backside of the legs.

I used a sticker (see the arrow) on one of the legs. By the way the skin-colored sticker blends in well with the skin-colored parts of the kit.

Checking out the leg straps.

One of Mash's leg straps are skin-colored so I used the provided matte-textured sticker on that part.

Purple heeled feet.

The armored heeled shoes have few details and they're protected with a small foot/ankle guard.

My painting is sloppy on this part.

The heels of the shoes are painted purple (again, sloppily).

ACCESSORIES/OPTIONAL PARTS

Mash only have one accessory, her overly large cross shield.

Mash's shield

I don't know, but I think this shield is enough for Mash. Can't think of anything for her to use. I just used the stickers and didn't use any paint or top coats on this shield, except for one part.

The shield's writings.

The shield is really detailed I like the silver parts and it got some writing at the center. This is the only painted part on the shield.

The backside of the shield.

The back of the shield features two types of grips: the big circular one (still not sure if that's a shield grip though) and the small one at the center for one hand. This side of the shield looks cheap because the cross part is hollow, I guess to cut costs for this kit?

Mash's display base

Mash have a unique display base. It's a blue transparent base with hexagon shapes. This is a well known effect shape and look for characters using shields or shield spells like in the RPG games.

Leg clamp for the base.

The leg clamp holds the kit very well, probably because Mash's legs have so many details that the clamp can hold to.

ARTICULATIONS

Hello.

Shielder Mash Kyrielight is a Petitrits kit, meaning this kit have limited articulation.

She will not let you pass...

The head is attached via ball joint and it have great movement range. It can look up/down, lean side-to-side and fully rotate without any problems.

...because she got a huge shield.

This kit doesn't have torso articulation so let's move on to arm articulations. Both arms have a ball-swivel joint. They can fully rotate and raise sideways really well. There's a swivel on the biceps. The elbows is on a single hinge and can bend more than 90 degrees. The hands can only swivel.

Trying to defend.

Because of the skirt armor. The legs have limited movement and not having knee articulation means less dynamic posing.

Posing after deflecting an attack.

The feet is on a ball joint and have limited movement when pointing up and down. No problems moving side to side

SCALING

They're increasing in numbers!

Mash is taller than Saber Okita Souji and about the same height as Caster Nero Claudius.

QUALITY ISSUES

One runner (black colored) have a small warped area. Thankfully, the kit's parts are unaffected.

CONCLUSION

The Petitrits Shielder Mash Kyrielight model kit is a pretty good kit and it's nice to look at. This is really easy to build and paint. It doesn't need that many colors unless you want to paint it with great detail and shadings. She only got one accessory but I think that's fine for the price point of the kit. Mash's display base is unique in design which is really nice. The articulations are pretty good with some limitations on the leg area. I recommend this kit because it's cheap and looks nice when in display.

She can tank every hit.

She can hold and raise that huge shield easily with one arm.

Cheers and Happy Collecting!
