[Toy Review] TIFA LOCKHART (Mature Dress Ver.) - Final Fantasy VII Remake Play Arts Kai

After waiting and earning cash, I finally have this Play Arts Kai action figure of Tifa in her blue Mature dress as seen in Final Fantasy VII Remake. This my top favorite from the three dress options to choose for Tifa in the game. Because this is the only dress Tifa wears in the Don Corneo part in the original PS1 game and the Remake made her even sexier thanks to the HD graphics.

"I'll be fine. You've seen how much ass I can kick."

THE FIGURE

Viewing Tifa

Whew! This action figure of Tifa in her mature dress looks so hot, pretty and sexy. It looks really good and very presentable.

Tifa's cute face

Tifa's face looks great. Her face is pretty with glossy eyes and pink lips.

Crescent moon earring.

She's wearing a gold crescent moon earring on her left ear. The right ear doesn't have an earring. The left side of the faceplate have black paint near the ears, to simulate hair. I think its good to hide any bald areas of the head but I wish they sculpted the black part instead to make it look more like hair.

Her hair looks very smooth

Tifa's long black hair looks good. The hair have faint shadings and the sculpt looks nice. It really looks like real hair when viewing the figure at a distance.

The Mature Dress

The mature dress is one of the three dress options for Tifa in the remake. This is my favorite dress for Tifa, the other two dresses are really good as well. Anyway, the really short dress shows Tifa's curvature and it's detailed with some black lace and ridges. The dress itself looks kinda silky.

Tifa's exposed back

The back shows more of Tifa's skin. The skin are kinda reddish. Which is good, in my opinion. The back also shows the cross straps to hold Tifa's dress at the top.

Focusing on that part.

Tifa's dress have a choker part and is tied like a bow around Tifa's neck. If you look closer, there are a couple of gold beads on the bow.

Floating belt

Tifa is wearing a black string floating belt with some white pearl-like things dangling around it. If you look closer, the string belt itself is like a rose vine and the white pearl-like things look like rosebuds and you can see black fully bloomed roses. The bottom area of the dress is frilly.

Tifa's small but strong arm.

Tifa's arms look good, like I said earlier about the skin tone, it's kinda reddish. She's not wearing any bracelets or bangles on either left or right arm.

Painted fingernails

The fingernails are painted white. Looks good.

Nice long legs

Tifa really got long pair of legs. All I can say that they look nice and the skin tone again is reddish.

Tifa's high heeled shoes

Tifa's high-heeled shoes are blue with black trim to remain consistent to her dress. The design is also consistent with flower heel straps.

Bottom of the heels

The bottom of the shoes are white. You can also see the copyright stuff sculpted on the right shoe, which is a good location. I prefer seeing the copyright stuff at the bottom of the shoe instead at the back of the leg.

Oh yeah, in case you are wondering... no, unfortunately, Tifa is not wearing any thongs or sexy panties underneath the dress like in her concept art. She wears short sport shorts...

ACCESSORIES

Tifa's accessories are mostly interchangeable parts. She got an interchangeable back hair piece, an interchangeable faceplate a total of seven extra hands.

Tifa's interchangeables

Tifa, while wearing a dress, only fought for a short time during a cutscene in the game. So I guess the accessory variety is good enough and I can't think of anything that SQEX should add for this action figure.

Windswept hair

The interchangeable back hair is windswept and it looks good. If you want to do some dynamic poses for Tifa, you'll need to use this accessory.

Extra hushing faceplate

The alternate facesculpt looks good. It got that stressed look. I can't think of any use on this interchangeable piece except for the hushing pose.

Extra hands

The extra hands looks good and the fingernails are all painted white. There are a couple of fists for punching people, a couple of martial arts hands for fighting stances, a couple of wide open hands and a pointing right hand for that hushing pose or any pointing poses.

Display stand

The display stand is very useful for dynamic poses.

ARTICULATIONS

"Shhhh"

Time to pose Tifa!

The "Rinoa" pose

The head is on a double ball peg. It moves well but the default long hair limits the range of movement. It can move more if you swap with the other back hair piece. I'm not sure if this figure have a neck joint. I tried to move the neck, it shifts just a teeny bit then it springs back to normal position. The neck part is kinda hard plastic.

Holding her side hair.

The shoulders have hinged ball pegs. The ball pegs rotates, shifts and adjust the shoulders. It looks bad on this figure because it shows more skin, no parts of clothing to hide the articulation especially when posed. The hinge can raise the arms to the side. It locks in place so that it can hold the arm's pose.

Classy pose

Both arms have bicep swivel. It works well but it ruins the look of the arms. For this figure, I wish SQEX removed the bicep swivel joint. The elbows are double-hinged and have a really nice folding range, but again it looks bad when folded. The elbows also can swivel on both ends, this is a good reason to remove the bicep swivel. The wrists are ball-hinged. The hands can move really well.

She's ready to give beef in a brawl.

The chest have decent movement range. It can turn/tilt side to side well. Movement is a little tight because of the figure and character's design. This figure can ab crunch a little, but moves really well when bending back.

"Come over here, handsome."

The hidden waist joint helps for more movement range but it's super limited.

Mimicking the static figure pose.

The lower part of the dress have cuts on both sides so that both legs can move a little bit more. Both legs can raise forward and back good enough. Raising it sideways is limited to medium range and it's good enough for side kicks.

Right jab

Both legs can twist/turn on the joint. They also have hidden swivel joint thanks to her sport shorts.

Sidekick

The knees are double-hinged and have really good bend. I have to say, while they can hold poses, I wish these double-hinged knees are ratcheted. Because the knees of this figure can't hold the figure's upper body weight. It flops down when I want Tifa to kneel on both knees as seen in the scene where she's riding in a chocobo carriage talking to Cloud.

Aerial martial arts pose

The ankles are ball-hinged and gives the feel three clicks pointing up and three clicks pointing down. That's a really good range. Both feet can also swivel and pivot.

SCALING

Let's see how tall or short this dress-wearing Tifa compared to some PAK figures in my collection.

Three Tifas!

Huh, wow it's almost consistent. The three Tifa's almost have the same height. Default Tifa (FFVIIR) is a bit taller, while Future Tifa (FFVII:AC) have the same height. I expected Dress Tifa is a bit taller because she's wearing high heels.

The love triangle trio.

Cloud (FFVIIR) is a bit taller and Aerith (FFVIIR) is a little shorter than Tifa. Good height comparison.

Tifa with a short girl and a tall man.

Jessie (FFVIIR) is really short while Sephiroth (FFVIIR) is a very tall man. They look really good.

I guess Riku didn't get the formal attire memo.

Both Riku (KH3) and Lunafreya (FFXV) are shorter than Tifa. Tifa and Luna looks good together because they're both wearing dresses.

Being guarded by people wielding gunblades.

I wish both Squall (Dissidia) and Lightning (Dissidia) to be taller. Because Tifa is awkwardly the tallest in this picture. Huh the picture also shows that they're guarding Tifa and telling us to back off.

QUALITY ISSUES

There are no major problems found on the Tifa figure that I got. But I found some very tiny issues (more like nitpicks) around the figure.

- Small paint dot on Tifa's right side boob
- Obvious mold marks on the side boobs
- Dirt scratch at the back of the figure
- Small dot on the right fist

See? I'm just nitpicking on the figure. So in short this Tifa (Mature dress ver.) action figure is almost perfect.

And I know this is not an issue because this part does its job but I wish the knees can hold the upper body weight of the figure.

CONCLUSION

This Final Fantasy VII Remake Play Arts Kai action figure of Tifa wearing a mature dress is great. Really sexy, pretty and presentable. It's also really fun to pose but some articulations are limited especially on the legs and the head (depending on the hair accessory). The accessories are all interchangeables but I don't have any complaints because they give better posing options. This is another fine addition to my PAK collection. I definitely recommend this if you like Tifa and the game. Now that I have a figure of Tifa in a dress, I'm tempted to get the action figures of Aerith and Cloud wearing a dress too.

Cheers and Happy Collecting!

MORE TIFA!
