[Toy Review] TRACER - Overwatch Ultimates

She is the first one that you can think of when you heard of the video game Overwatch. And that one is Tracer and she got a catchphrase delivered in a lively tune. I got her Overwatch Ultimates action figure to review. This action figure series is from Hasbro, the toy company that made the Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black series of action figures.

"Cheers, love! The cavalry is here!"
~ Tracer ~

PACKAGING

Front and back of the box

The Overwatch Ultimates box is windowed-type and got a very nice large artwork of Tracer in front that continues to the left side. You can already view the figure and the accessories through the box's viewing window. The back shows the same artwork of Tracer as well as her personal info at the right side of the artwork. My box have a distributor stickers that obscures Tracer's info unfortunately. You can also see the other characters included in the first wave at the back.

Out and ready to secure some area or deliver some payloads.
Packaging includes:
- Tracer figure
- 2x hand pistols
- 2x gun muzzle flash effects (blue)
- Open right hand
- Two-finger pointing right hand

THE FIGURE

For a very affordable action figure by Hasbro. I think they did a good job on translating Tracer into an action figure.

Viewing Tracer at four sides.
The figure is very nice to look at, it got lots of colors and because of Overwatch's unique character designs, Hasbro have to make different sculpts for each character unlike in Marvel Legends that re-uses and re-coloring different parts to make a figure.

"Hello, love!"
The face looks really nice and accurate to the source material, Tracer got a cute smirking face. Her wavy spiky hair also looks nice but it's all-black, it needs some brown colors.

Tracer's visor.
Tracer's yellow visor is transparent and it's made of soft plastic. The rims of the visor is painted white.

Tracer's frontside.
Nice jacket.
Tracer is wearing a brown flight jacket. She also got a white device on her chest, it looks like a futuristic breast plate. I don't know what they're called but this makes Tracer tangible because she got that temporal anomaly stuff happening on her due to an experiment. There are some paint issues like some dark scratches. The center of the device have some silver on them and blues to simulate that it's glowing.

Tracer's back.
The back's design looks consistent to the front but the back of the device doesn't have that blueish glow.

[left] The on-figure accessory at the back.
[right] accessory removed

The back also features a hidden accessory for Tracer, kinda like on-figure accessory because it's already attached on the figure. It looks like a mine, she use this as her Ultimate skill in the game. It's just a gun metal-colored plastic but the details are there.

Tracer's right arm.
Both arms looks nice and painted well. The white gauntlet thingies have no paint they're just white plastic that already looks dirty. The cuffs of the jacket looks nice and textured. Both shoulder of the jacket have different patches. The right have the Great Britain flag...

Tracer's left arm. The emblem have Tracer's name on it.
...and the left have the emblem of, what I guess, Tracer's flight unit.

Brightly colored leggings
The legs have black harnesses, they're kinda soft and they're sculpted as part of the flight jacket. Those might limit the leg movement. Tracer also have a skin tight leggings. It got a fiery hue of orange and yellow. The sides of the legs have nice textured parts that goes from top to the calves of the legs. The left leg have Tracer's name and the right leg have an extra harness sculpted on.

Future Crocs
Tracer is wearing some kind of "futuristic Crocs" footwear. It looks nice but also kinda large when you look at it at the back. It's mostly white with black outsoles. It lacks some orange paint at the outsole.

Shoe outsole
The bottom of the outsole is treaded for detail and got some holes for the pegged stand, probably sold separately by third party makers.

ACCESSORIES

Tracer have standard amount of accessories. She got her dual pistols, a couple of muzzle flashes for her guns, and extra two hands. She also have a secret accessory that I mentioned earlier.

All of Tracer's stuff

For this price point, I can't complain. I mean that's a lot of accessories for a cheaper action figure. But this figure needs a display stand.

Tracer's dual pistols
The guns looks nice and detailed. It's black and their top parts are painted white. The default pair of hands holds the guns nicely, not too tight not too loose.

Muzzle flash effects
The muzzle flashes have the same sculpt and they're made of soft transparent blue plastic.

Guns firing
You just attach these effects on the tips (muzzles) of the guns.

Tracer's bomb Ultimate
This is a closer look of the "mine" or "bomb" accessory. Like I said earlier, it's just gun-metal but detailed.

Extra hands
These are the extra hands, both of them are right hands. You use them to make the figure do some gesture poses. These hands, including the default hands are nicely detailed.

ARTICULATIONS

Sassy pose
This is my first action figure made by Hasbro, so I don't know what to expect on the articulations. So here we go.

Pointing or signaling something.
The head is on a hinge-ball peg. It moves nice but hindered by the flight jacket's collar, it's not soft enough.

Tracer pose 1
The arms have standard shoulder hinges, they move well without any problems. No bicep swivel but this can be done by using the elbow joints.

Tracer pose 2
Double jointed elbows works but the movement is hindered because of the white armor and the jacket's sleeve cuffs.

Strafe shooting
The hands can swivel and each hand have hinges for more articulation.

Landing pose.
Because of the soft but kinda hard chest part. The chest movement is kinda limited. Still the figure can pull some nice action poses. This figure have an ab hinge or "ab crunch" it works good enough. It can go forward a bit, and a bit more to the back.

Simple jumping pose.
The movement of both legs is hindered by the harnesses. The good news is that Tracer can still do some nice kicks. The legs also have a thigh cut, it works but ruins the design of Tracer's leggings.

Run and gun shooting.
The double-hinged knees have decent range of motion and they look good when you bend them.

Gunslinging action!
The ankles are hinged, making both feet move well. The enlarged back part of the footwear makes both feet point downward a bit better. Pointing up is limited because of the "tongue" part of the shoes.

Gun Kata (dance) pose
Both shoes have kinda limited foot pivot. Not really a gripe because I didn't force the feet articulation too much.

SCALING

The scale of the Overwatch Ultimates action figures is 1:12. They're smaller action figures so lets compare them to some of my small-scale figures.

Tracer with Neku
Tracer is taller than the Bring Arts Neku figure. That's really good.

Tracer and Harley
Tracer is shorter than the DC Collectibles Bombshell Harley Quinn. That looks awkward.

QUALITY ISSUES

The only flaw on this figure is the paint. Some parts lacks paint like the straps on the jacket's collar and the tiny parts of the shoes lacks some orange. There are some paint scratches too, they're random because I saw other Tracer figures that have near perfect paintjob on the chest device. So I'm glad to report that there are no broken parts and missing pieces on this action figure.

CONCLUSION

This is my first time to have a Hasbro toy. Overwatch Ultimates is shaping up to be one of my favorite action figure series. This Tracer figure looks good and have nice set of accessories. This figure also have a very nice paintjob even though some parts lacks some. I'm more lenient on this figure or the Overwatch Ultimates series in general. because they're cheaper compared to the figures from Japan. I definitely recommend that you get this figure if you're an Overwatch fan or someone who likes nice-looking character designs. I know there's a Figma Tracer but I bought this one instead (still planning to get the Figma version for comparison reasons).

Cheers and Happy Collecting!
