[Toy Review] ZARYA - Overwatch Ultimates

I got another Overwatch Ultimates action figure. This time it's Zarya, a big strong woman carrying a huge cannon. I don't know much about her but I know that she's Russian and she's one of the tanks in the game. This figure looks good and already have a good impression so let's see this figure is cool or meh.

"Be sure to stretch before engaging in rigorous physical activity."

THE FIGURE

Viewing Zarya at four sides.

This Zarya figure looks good. It's bulky and pretty tall for a Overwatch Ultimates action figure.

Zarya's profile shot.

Her face looks good, she still looks pretty even with having strong facial features. The face is painted really well. an she got a really short pink hair.

That's a big scar.

She got a large cross-shaped scar above her right eye. I don't know where she got that because I haven't played the game or read its comic book series. The hair is painted really well.

Zarya's suit.

Zarya is wearing a blue and black sleeveless suit. It looks good and really detailed. The paint job is pretty good too. There are areas that lack paint, like the straps and lining that doesn't have red paint on them.

What are those logos?

The suit have a metallic silver collar that looks like you can connect a space helmet on it. It's nicely painted. There are some logos on the suit, they're nicely printed. The upper torso part of the suit is glossy.

Zarya's back.

There's a generator looking thing behind Zarya's suit. It looks good and nicely sculpted but it's just blue. It lacks some silver, red and black paint. The logos are missing too.

Those pythons look sick.

Zarya's arms are manly. The right arm have a black strap on the bicep. The gauntlets looks cool but the hand lack some paint.

Zarya's tattoo.

The left arm have a tattoo that says "512" on the shoulder. The printed tattoo looks sharp and clean.

The large belt.

The belt is kinda large and it's a free-floating separate piece. It's just black with a silver buckle. The details looks nice but it needs some gray color.

It looks hard to walk wearing those.

Zarya's legs are heavily padded in front. Those armored parts looks cool but lacks some paint in some areas.

Back of the legs.

The back of the legs doesn't have any armor. You can just see the leg part of Zarya's undersuit that have wrinkles for detail and they're kinda glossy too.

Heavy boots.

The boots looks heavy and cool the bottom part are metallic silver. There's a black paint smudge (or stick) on the right boot.

ACCESSORIES

Zarya doesn't have much. She only got her huge cannon with a separate effect part and a couple of fists.

Zarya's accessories.

Well that's all of Zarya's stuff and I can't think of anything else to add except for the "bubble shield" effect.

Particle Cannon

The Particle Cannon is huge and a couple of heads shorter than Zarya. This is probably one the biggest weapons made for Overwatch Ultimates action figures so far.

Taking a closer look at the Particle Cannon.

The cannon is really detailed but again, it lacks some paint to add more detail and accuracy. The logos are printed well.

This part kinda looks like a railgun.

The two white parts on the top and bottom looks good but they're kinda wobbly. The gold part is painted well.

The sphere that powers up the cannon... I think.

The blue sphere is translucent. I hope you can customize this by putting a tiny LED in it.

The cannon's grip

The other side of the cannon have a front grip so that Zarya can hold it like she's holding a minigun. The grip is flexible for easy handling. The logo printed on this side looks good.

Particle Cannon firing effect.

This is the firing effect of the cannon. It's a big chunk of smooth blue translucent plastic. It's kinda soft and flexes a bit. It's pretty heavy too. You can peg this in the cannon's gold barrel part.

Particle Cannon firing.

If you put together the Particle Cannon and its effect part. They become longer and heavier. Good thing that the cannon have two grips.

Extra hands.

For interchangeable parts. Zarya got a couple of fists as an extra. That's boring.

ARTICULATIONS

Muscle flexing.

This Zarya figure is kinda bulky. Let's see how the bulkiness affect this figure's articulations.

Hero pose.

No problems on moving Zarya's head. It can look and turn around really well.

Another hero pose.

The upper torso can turn side to side well. It can pivot, go forward and back a little.

Trying to imitate one of Zarya's poses.

The lower torso have an ab hinge. It doesn't work well. It can't move to the back or the articulation is stuck. And doing an ab crush is difficult because the blue part hinder's its movement.

Throwing a jab.

The arms can fully rotate and can raise to the side really well. The bicep swivel of the right arm is stuck, no problem on the left arm.

Using the Particle Cannon as barbels.

The elbows are double hinged and have a good a little more than 90 degree bend. The hands can swivel and they have hinges.

Carrying the cannon on her shoulder like it's not heavy at all.

The arms doesn't have butterfly hinges so moving both arms to cross the chest is impossible.

Fist pumpin'.

The legs are really bulky but the articulation is good enough.

Ready to fire the Particle Cannon.

You can't make this figure do the splits but it can kick high. They can go up forward just fine and a little to the back.

Firing!

The both legs have swivel hinge and they can also swivel (or twist) on the ball joint.

Firing at a higher angle.

The knees are double hinged. They got a nice bend and it looks good because of the knee pads.

Crouching for a good photo.

The feet articulation is limited. They got a very big ball hinge but they can move a little when pointing up/down and left/right. The ankle pivot works well though.

SCALING

This Zarya figure is pretty big let's see how big she is compared with some Overwatch Ultimates figures.

Zarya is a big woman.

As you can see, Zarya is the tallest. Lucio, Tracer and Sombra are puny. Junkrat is tall but he's a little shorter than Zarya.

QUALITY ISSUES

The issues that I've found on my Zarya action figure are the stucked bicep swivel and ab hinge. I guess the problem can be solved by heating the part a bit to loosen them up. I also found a paint smudge on the right boot.

CONCLUSION

To make your Overwatch action figure collection more fun to look at, you should get this Zarya Overwatch Ultimates figure. This figure looks cool and it got some bulk and weight. The downside is the few amount of accessories. The articulation is good enough considering the thickness of the figure but some articulations are stuck. I hope that your Zarya figure get none of those articulation problems. This figure is pretty cheap so I can't complain much. If you want to make this figure to look better, I suggest that you paint some of its parts.

Cheers and Happy Collecting!
