[Toy Review] DC BOMBSHELLS HAWKGIRL - DC Collectibles Designer Series

The hawk has landed! This is the DC Collectibles DC Bombshells Hawkgirl action figure designed by Ant Lucia. This figure belongs to the 2nd wave the DC Bombshells series. I knew Hawkgirl first than Hawkman, because I watched the Justice League animated series first. She's a tough redheaded winged woman who wields a magic mace  in that cartoon.

PACKAGING

Front and back of the box.

The box is windowed type so you can already see the figure and its single accessory in front. The box is white and with green secondary color. On the left side, there's an artwork of Hawkgirl and at the back, you see the figures that belongs to the DC Bombshells' 2nd wave of action figures.

Unpacked and ready to fly!
Packaging includes: Hawkgirl figure, Jetpack, Instructions paper

THE FIGURE

Viewing Hawkgirl on four sides.
Hawkgirl looks really good. It looks like there are re-used parts on this figure. I like the brighter colors.

Nice smirking face.
Her face have the smirking expression, giving the impression that she's confident and playful. She also have a couple of small line red face paint under her right eye. Speaking of eye, her eyes are green and she have red hair.

A closser look on Hawkgirl's helmet.
Her helmet is inspired by the mask of her original design and it looks aerodynamic, very useful because she likes to fly on her jetpack.

Hawkgirl's simple overalls with yellow tank top.
Hawkgirl's Bombshells design resembles a fighter pilot because of the green overalls. The overalls are unzipped on the top, revealing her yellow tank top. She looks simple and she's really busty.

The goggles.
She's also wearing goggles around her neck. This is a separate piece and it's made of soft plastic and the glasses are red transparent plastic.

The harness with a little Hawk pin button

The black harness looks simple and painted well, but not entirely. The buckles are painted silver and there's a small red and gold pin logo on the right side, but I can't make out the design of the logo, but if you look on her artwork the thing inside the circle is supposed to be a hawk.

Hawkgirl's back.
The back shows more of the harness and the peg holes for mounting the jetpack on Hawkgirl's back.

The arms looks buffed.
The arms looks good, nice skin paintjob and she wears long black gloves on both hands.

Green pants, just like how Hawkgirl wants it.
The pants are green as part of the overalls and it got single black stripe per leg. Ther's also a black part under her crotch, it's probably part of the harness.

The hanging top part of the overalls.
This is the unzipped part of the overalls. The zippers are painted silver and the cuffs or the end of both of its sleeves are black.

Nice classic-looking pair of boots.
The brown pair of boots looks good and nicely painted. There are different shades of brown around them. Each visible shoelace and gold studs are painted properly and the boots have yellow stripe and other small details like seams and knitted wing pattern on each boot.

The outsoles are threaded.
The bottom of the boots are threaded and there's a peg hole for the display base which is not included in the packaging.

ACCESSORIES

Sadly Hawkgirl only have one accessory, her Jetpack. What's up with the 2nd wave of the DC Bombshells action figures, they're lack extra hands and other accessories. I wish they included an alternate head with her blowing a bubblegum just like in the artwork.

Backside of the jetpack.
The jetpack looks really good and detailed. It's mostly silver and have wings, the booster's bottom are black and there's a single red stripe on top of each booster.

There are some nice little details on this jetpack.
It also got a hawk logo on the center and it's clear on this one that the logo is a hawk.

Frontside of the jetpack.
The jetpack have two flight sticks which is painted black with red button. The default hands on Hawkgirl can easily hold the two flight sticks. By the way these flight sticks can also move and kinda soft so that they won't break so easily. Also, the jetpack have two pegs that connects to the peg holes on Hawkgirl's back.

ARTICULATIONS

Giving a thumbs up.
The articulation is pretty much standard on this Hawkgirl figure. I found nothing new, but still it's worth reviewing on how the character design affects the articulations. I suggest that you use any display stands you have lying around to pose this figure.

Heroic pose.
She can hold the unzipped top of her overalls.
Head can turn around without any limitations. Moving this figure's head up/down is disappointing for a flying character. Looking up is limited by the hair, having articulations on some hairs at the back of the head might help the figure to look up.

Confidently giving herself a two thumbs up.
I find it difficult to make the head look down, probably it's stiff.

A bit of stretching.
The chest part moves pretty well. Nice side to side and forward/back movement, It can lean just fine too. The abs really help this figure to pull some nice flying poses because it got a nice movement range.

Just standing around, looking pretty.
Both arms can raise up/down, forward/back without any problems and can fully rotate. Bicep swivel are present on each arm. The elbows can bend more than 90 degrees and the hands can swivel and got a hinge to move both hands up and down.

Going up!
Take note that the jetpack limits the chest articulation when equipped.

She's planning to go higher.
The legs can raise up and move a little to the back. Both legs have hinged ball joint so if you want the legs to move higher you must pull the legs down the raise the legs. The legs can also raise sidewards and doesn't have thigh swivel, but they can twist a bit on the ball joint.

[left] Flying forward
[right] Flying sidewards (life strafing)

Knees are double-hinges and works really well. It doesn't look bad when fully bent too.

Having fun gliding.
The ankles for feet movement are hinged. Pretty good up and down movement and you can twist the feet because they can pivot.

SCALING

Their numbers are increasing!
Here you can see Hawkgirl is a bit taller than Batwoman and Harley Quinn. Katana is taller because of her Geta (Japanese wooden slippers).

QUALITY ISSUES

I haven't found any major issues on this figure, which is awesome!

CONCLUSION

My DC Bombshells action figure collection is starting to look really good now that I have 4 of them. Hawkgirl is a pretty decent action figure. It doesn't offer new to the articulation. But the looks and design of this character made me bought this figure. The accessory count is pretty lame though. If you're a fan of DC Bombshells or DC characters in general, you should definitely pick this one up.

Here's a quick and simple toy edit that I made for Hawkgirl.

She's flying and relaxing.

Cheers and Happy Collecting!
