Pokemon Go: This Game Needs More Features!

 

I've been playing Pokemon Go for a while now. While this is a good and pretty addictive game and the new awesome Buddy Pokemon system is coming soon, it still lacks some gameplay features to make it more fun so I listed some! The stuff I listed is limited for this game because I don't want Pokemon Go to have the same features as the main Pokemon generation of games on Gameboy, GBC, GBA, DS and 3DS so that people will still play those main Pokemon games and.

By the way, before moving on, I also posted a couple of blog entries about Pokemon Go. The first one is about staying safe when playing the game, the second is about the stuff that you need to bring on your Pokemon Go journey.

Daily Log In Rewards

Most mobile games have this daily log in rewards that gives free stuff that can be claimed once per day when you open the game. Pokemon Go really need to have this feature because some people prefer to have free PokeCoins (or any item) sometimes. I know PokeStops provides free stuff, but what about those who live in areas with few or no PokeStops nearby?

Friend List

Yes, this will come in handy for more features. If this game have a friend list, people can make their own teams/group or *sigh* clans to battle other "PokeGroups" or "PokeClan" (you heard/read it first here!). Friend List also enables friend chats which is good if they plan to have a Pokemon Battle or something or just chat.

Pokemon Trading: Local and Friend-based

One time I wanted my sister's extra Pokemon and she needed some of mine, and it sucks that we cant trade with each other. This feature really needs to be implemented as soon as possible. Because this make Pokemon collecting easier.  This feature can also work on the Friend List so that you and your friends can trade. This is just a rumor but I heard that the devs are planning to make this feature so fingers crossed.

Pokemon Battle: Local and Friend-based

Right now you can only battle and train Pokemon at Pokemon Gyms. Sometimes you need to have a battle with just your friends and family without going to a Pokemon Gym. I don't know how the devs will do this, but they must balance it or put some incentives so that the players would still want to go to a Pokemon Gym to battle and train their Pokemon.

Lively-looking Map

I'll be honest, Pokemon Go's map looks standard: the road looks like a standard road and everything else is just green with different hues, the water is not even animated... It looks boring. I know that they need to make everything look basic because heavy graphics requires more smartphone CPU/GPU power, RAM and resources. But still, they need to make it more livelier by putting some more textures and objects in the map, like grass, rocks, trees, animated water (basic) etc.

More Character (Avatar) Customization Options!

The current version only provides the same clothes but with different colors for our avatar. This game needs to have more clothing options for the avatars so that we can make our avatars look like us, or so that we can express ourselves by mix and matching different clothing styles. I'll be happy if we can also customize our avatar's faces. I know this might suck but the devs might charge real money (PokeCoins) for better-looking (premium) avatar clothing.

Other Gameplay Additions

For other stuff, the devs need to add some random weather conditions on the map based on the current weather on the players location, these are just for effects and won't affect Pokemon battles like in the original games.

The app detects that you're going too fast, right? The devs can put something like if we tap on the "I'm a passenger" button, your avatar will suddenly ride a bike! Again this will have no effect the game except that it will look more cooler to see that your avatar is riding a bike when you're going too fast.

Gen 2 Pokemon!

What are Generation 2 Pokemon? Gen 2 Pokemon are a batch of Pokemon that were introduced on the second generation of Pokemon games (Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal versions) that came after Pokemon Red, Green, Blue and Yellow versions. But I don't want the devs to put these 100 Gen 2 Pokemon in Pokemon Go yet... maybe after a year or more because this app needs more features.

By the way the main Pokemon games have 6 generations that currently have a total of 721 Pokemon species and Generation 7 (Pokemon Sun and Moon) is going to be released soon for the Nintendo 3DS with new kinds of  Pokemon.

Well that's what I think that this game needed to make it more fun to play. If you think about something really cool that needs to be in the game without making it too similar to the original Pokemon games, you can go ahead and mention it in the comments section.
