Caleruega, Batangas

We went to Batangas, Philippines to check out the Caleruega Church, A place close to God and nature.

Caleruega Church is located at Nasugbu, Batangas Philippines. It's like a hidden church because on a high place on the hills and you have to go to a rough and rocky terrain to go there.

Once you arrive the you will see the old church. We can't go in there when we visit the place. I think that this not a church anymore but a parish office.

On our left, we see this sign that leads to nice places around the place.

You will see a lot of nature here, it's beautiful and relaxing to sit on a bench and look at the view.

This is what we first saw after the church, the Dominican Steps. I don't know where this stairs leads.

Next is this small set of stairs. It's nice to take a picture here.

How nice, they have koi ponds here.

There are lots of koi fishes varying from size, you can feed them with fish food or crackers.

This is what the koi ponds looks like. This place is kinda big. There are lots of bridges and it have a small man-made waterfall.

I took this picture of a soon to be new leaves because it looks interesting.

We exited the koi ponds and went down this road.

The road have lots of these tiny yellow flowers.

At the end of the road we see this hanging bridge. I look down there and wow, we're really up high here.

After walking through the bridge we arrived at this place. If I remember correctly, this is the way of the cross. This path have the stations of the cross, a series of events that leads to Jesus' crucifixion.

The path is uphill and it's kinda making my legs complain, but my brain said "Get moving, today is leg day!", LOL. Anyway, we arrived at the top an we see this small, open air structure, we prayed and rested here for a bit.

The pine trees are nicely lined up here giving a welcoming vibe to the praying area.

After walking and seeing lots of nice sceneries for hours, we climbed a stair with about 150 or more steps. At the top is the actual Caleruega Church.

It's a small church and a nice and quiet place. Good for simple weddings.

There are a couple of glass plaques here.

These plaques shares some history lesson about this church.

This is inside the church. It's small but it gives that welcoming vibe.

We went back outside to view the scenery at the back of the church

The view is calming and takes your stress and fatigue away.

After resting and enjoying the view, we went back at our car and it's time to go home.

We had fun visiting Caleruega. It's unfortunate that we came late for the mass so we just went around the area. There are lots to see here, so many that we didn't see all of them. I also heard that you can camp here or go for a relaxing and peaceful retreat away from the stress and pollution of the city. Sometimes we need some nature and peaceful quiet time so that we can clear our minds and perform and do better again back in the city.

Cheers!
