[Toy Review] PORTAL 2 - LEGO Dimensions Level Pack

This LEGO Dimensions pack is the last one that I picked during my little LEGO hauling session. This one is the Portal 2 Level Pack that features Chell, the silent protagonist of the game, in her LEGO minifigure form along with her Sentry Turret vehicle and Companion Cube item builds.

PACKAGING

Front and back of the box.

The packaging is a little wider than the smaller fun packs and it shows a large image of Chell. The back shows the other possible builds for the Sentry Turret and the Companion Cube.

Ready to do some tests in GLaDOS's test chambers and destroy stuff.
Packaging includes: Chell minifigure, Portal Gun, Set of bricks for the Sentry Turret and Companion Cube builds, 1x Character NFC base, 2x Blank NFC bases for builds, Instruction manual (minifigure only)

THE MINIFIGURE

I can't believe Portal 2 have official levels for LEGO Dimensions. This is probably the closest thing that we get as a sequel to Portal 2. Because of that, we get an official Chell minifigure!

Chell
This is Chell's minifigure look in LEGO Dimensions. This is a really good adaptation of the character. I like the print on the body, the Aperture Science logo is clear and readable on Chell's tank top. Her legs are dual-molded because of the orange (part of Chell's jumpsuit) and white parts (boots). This is the first time I saw a dual-molded part in a LEGO minifigure. Dual-molded means that LEGO combined two different colored plastic to form a pair of arms and/or legs.

The expression on Chell's default face print is neutral or no emotions, very fitting on because she's a silent protagonist. But LEGO added an alternate face print that show's Chell's aggressive or angry expression. If you play the LEGO Dimensions game, Chell have a lot of facial expressions depending on the situation. The back of the body is also printed.

The only thing missing is the tied upper jumpsuit part, it's possible to make one by using a thin orange cloth and tie it around Chell's waist.

ACCESSORIES

It will not be a Portal game (or level pack) if Chell didn't have her trusty Portal Gun. The Portal Gun in LEGO form looks almost identical to the original design, it's simplified for the LEGO game. In this picture the blue portal mode is activated, LEGO provided a transparent orange LEGO "missile tip" part so that you can change the portal mode (blue or orange) on the Portal gun.

The Portal Gun
The Portal Gun is a soft plastic. They made it that way so that the thinner parts like the three "prongs" on the gun won't snap. Because the gun is soft it's a little difficult to equip it on Chell's minifigure hands.

Chell's NFC base have the Aperture Science Logo with white and orange colors on other parts.

THE BUILDS

Unlike the other characters that you get in smaller fun packs, Chell got two builds, a vehicle type and an item type.

Sentry Turret
The Sentry Turret can be ridden in LEGO Dimensions because its scale in the LEGO world is large. Even larger than the minifigure itself. The Sentry Turret looks identical to the original game version and it's cute.

Companion Cube
The Companion Cube have more function in LEGO Dimensions: it can deflect lasers and give some hearts (life/HP), and yes it can still be used to press those huge buttons in the test chambers. The tile pieces used on the Companion Cube are printed.

The Sentry Turret and Companion Cube have their own blank NFC bases and two alternate builds. The Sentry Turret can turn into Turret Striker and Flying Turret Carrier. The Companion Cube can turn into Laser Deflector and Gold Heart Emitter.

I wish LEGO also added a Wheatley and Space Core build. Well we can always build our own.

CONCLUSION

Well this Portal 2 Level Pack for LEGO Dimensions is kinda rare here in the Philippines so if you live here, better get this now if you collect LEGO minifigures and/or LEGO dimensions characters. This is the only official Portal 2 LEGO set and minifigure that we'll get and I think LEGO doesn't have any plans on making official Portal 2 sets. Man, Portal LEGO sets must be fun to build if they're real. I picked this one up because I like the Portal series, its characters and story. Hmmm, I should probably look for that Gordon Freeman and Chell NECA action figure.

Cheers and Happy Collecting!
