[Toy Review] DC BOMBSHELLS BATWOMAN - DC Collectibles Designer Series

I found it difficult to track down these DC Bombshells action figures by DC Collectibles. I managed to buy one and she's Batwoman. This action figure is part of the DC Designer Series and the guy who designed these DC Bombshells heroines is Ant Lucia.

PACKAGING

Front and back of the box.
The box look like it took some beating.

The box is windowed-type and looks simple. You can already view the figure and its accessories in front. The artwork of Batwoman is shown at the side and the back shows the other figures on this wave, Batwoman is the 4th figure in the 1st wave.

And she out for a homerun!
Packaging includes: Batwoman figure, Baseball bat, Baseball, Baseball glove, L/R gripping hands, L/R open hands, Manual slip

THE FIGURE

This is another good-looking figure from the DC Bombshells line. I guess Ant Lucia took the name Batwoman literally and designed her to look like a female baseball player.

Viewing Batwoman
The character design is simple and based on the female baseball players that played in place of the absent male players who were fighting in the battlefield during World War II.

She got some focused look.
Batwoman's face looks good. Some shader things that players use while playing in broad daylight are applied around her eyes that doubles as her face mask. The eyes are painted well, the green irises looks good. Her lips have nice dark colored lipstick applied.

The long red hair
Batwoman have long red hair and it's flowing to the right side. It's made of soft plastic and sculpted, painted and shaded nicely.

Nice hat.
Her black baseball cap have those pointy bat ears and an awesomely sculpted red bat logo

Classic baseball uniform for women.
Nice bat logo.
Her uniform looks like a standard baseball uniform for women, but since she's Batwoman, she got a black uniform with a large red bat logo. The logo is sculpted too which is great. There are red linings on the uniform too.

Batwoman - Gotham Knights' number 52.
The back of her uniform have the Gotham Knights team name and the number 52. I don't know much about Batwoman but I'm guessing she's part of DC's New 52. Anyways, the print looks good and got that worn chipped-off look, indicating that it has been worn and used a lot. I don't know if that's intentional of just a chipped paint.

The right arm is bent, bummer.
The arm looks good and nicely painted but the right arm of my figure is kinda bent or warped. The gloves looks good and painted glossy red.

Belt and skirt
The red belt have a nice paint job and its buckle is painted silver and there are excess paint around it. The black skirt is made of soft flexible plastic and have wrinkles for detail.

Nice long legs.
Both legs looks good and have nice skin tone. Batwoman is wearing a pair of long red socks with a couple of black stripes on top.

Batwoman got a small pair of shoes
She's wearing a black pair of shoes and they're shiny. It's just black, I wish the shoelaces are painted red.

Cleats!
The soles of the shoes have cleats and the right shoe have a peg hole for display stands.

ACCESSORIES

Batwoman have a nice amount of accessories. She got a baseball bat, a baseball, a baseball glove and 2 pairs of extra hands.

Batwoman's sports equipment.
The accessories have nice variety, I can't think of adding anything for Batwoman to use.

The bat, literally!
Sorry for the blurry photo.
The baseball bat looks good, it looks like it's made of real wood and its grip is painted black. Batwoman have her signature on the bat for a nice touch of detail.

A simple ball.
The ball is just that, a ball. The ball's red strings are painted nicely but not accurately on the sculpt. Be careful on using this accessory, because this is small and can fall, bounce, roll and get lost if it slipped off your hands.

Baseball glove/mitt
The glove looks like a normal baseball glove and it's pretty detailed. Paintjob and shading is good, you can see the red gloves underneath the brown baseball glove.

The palm side of the glove.
The glove have an indentation where the ball fits so that the ball can stay on the glove without falling off.

The ball rests nicely on the glove.
The glove can hold the ball pretty well and it's kinda difficult to remove it.

Extra hands and they're glossy red.
The two pairs of extra hands are used for holding the bat and the ball. The paint job on all hands are good but they tend to chip off on the peg and hinges.

Unfortunately this action figure doesn't have a display stand but the figure can stand on its own.

ARTICULATIONS

Batwoman
This Batwoman figure are nicely articulated. The design of the character might affect the articulations though so time to pose this figure to know what poses it can pull.

Keeping eye on the ball up high.
The head can move but with limitations especially when looking up because of the hair.

She's confident to hit a homerun.
The chest moves and leans really well thanks to its ball peg.

Batter up!
Both arms have full rotation and they have bicep swivel for more articulation.

Showing off the bat as a ritual before standing ready to hit the ball.
The double-hinged elbows have nice range of movement

When villains come and gets rough, she's ready beat some evil butt.
The hands can swivel and have a hinge so that they can point up and down. It's easy to swap these hands.

[left] She hit the ball!
[right] Ready to pitch.

Batwoman doesn't have an ab hinge or any waist joint which is a missed opportunity because they can put it above Batwoman's belt.

[left] Checking out the catcher's signal know how will she pitch the ball.
[right] Receiving the ball after a nice strike.

Both legs can move well, but they're hindered a bit by Batwoman's skirt. I wish I can pose her in an awesome pitching pose, you know where her other leg is raised very high.

Going to pass the ball to another team mate from another base.
The legs have hinged ball-peg that you can pull down to make more room for the legs to raise up even higher. Both legs can twist and they have swivel joints located at both laps.

An awesome catch by Batwoman!
The double-hinged knees works well and looks good, no complaints there.

Sliding to safely reach a base to avoid an out.
Both feet can point up and down well and can pivot but they pivot on an angle. No toe hinges that this figure desperately needs.

Confident pose
Other baseball poses are possible to pull but you'll need a display stand for some poses.

SCALING

This is my second DC Collectible action figure, now I can compare the height of these two DC Bombshells characters, Batwoman and Harley Quinn.

Batwoman with Harley Quinn
I'm glad that Batwoman is taller than Harley Quinn and it's nice to see both DC Bombshells characters together side by side.

QUALITY ISSUES

The right arm of this figure are slightly bent, but that can be fixed by heating up the part a bit then straighten it. There are paint chipping issue on the hands but on the peg and hinge part only, they're not noticeable if they're pegged on the figure. Lastly, theres a rogue black paint wash on the left forearm.

CONCLUSION

Another DC Bombshell character added and my collection is looking really good now that I have two of them. Batwoman's Bomshell design looks really good even if it's simple. The build quality is great but the paintjob are kinda sloppy. Batwoman's accessory count is good, can't complain there. It's awesome that got another great DC Collectible action figure. I'm still not a fan of the toy line but I'm looking forward to get another DC Bombshell figure.

Batwoman's pin-up pose.
Cheers and Happy Collecting!
