[Toy Review] JOKER - Figma (Persona 5)

Here's Joker! No, not Batman's clown villain nemesis from DC. It's Joker, the silent protagonist from Persona 5. P5 is one of my favorite games that I've spent lots of time playing! This is actually the first Figma action figure that I bought. As I mentioned in one of my past posts, this guy is going to be my first Figma figure.

"I'll reveal your true form!"

THE FIGURE

Joker's profile shot
The Figma figure of Joker looks really good and really stylish. He's ready to do some heists with those clothes.

Joker's mugshot
His face is really accurate. The default face have a serious look and his two extra faces shows his fun attitude. His black hair is puffy and the face doesn't have any paint issues.

Classy thief attire
Joker is wearing this really cool-looking black coat. It's all-black without any shadings or highlights. It's detailed with linings and seams. He's wearing a nice clothing underneath the coat. The underclothing also have some linings and its buttons are painted gold.

Joker's back
The back of the coat looks nice too and features that peg hole for the display stand.

He's a gentleman because he got a hanky.
The coat have a pocket with a white handkerchief. It's not painted exactly on the handkerchief's sculpt but it's not that obvious unless you take a look very closely.

Long stealth coat
The long coat have three bottom parts that are articulated.

Slim arms
Joker's coat have very nice and slim long sleeves. The cuffs are separate floating pieces and have gold cufflinks. Joker is wearing red gloves which stands out to his all-black clothing.

These pants are meant for stealing.
Joker's black pants looks ordinary but it got some linings and wrinkles for detail.

Nice small boots
The boots looks nice and it looks like its color is dark brown.

ACCESSORIES

Joker have lots of nice stuff. He got his knife and gun. Morgana, in his normal Phantom Thief look, is with him too. For interchangeable accessories, he got two alternate faces, an alternate front hairpiece with a mask and 5 extra hands.

Joker's loot
That's a lot of stuff and having Morgana is really cool. He lacks one important accessory in my opinion and that's a hand holding his mask.

Rebel Knife
The Rebel Knife looks good, it's not your everyday knife when it comes to its design. The blade is metallic and the grip is black. There are some tiny details around the knife too.

Handgun
Joker's Handgun looks like a normal handgun (but it's just a toy gun in the real world). It's mostly metallic silver and the grip is brown.

Extra faces
The two extra faces looks really good and they don't have any paint defects.

Extra front hairpiece with mask
The extra front hairpiece or bangs with a mask looks really nice. The mask looks good but and nicely painted around the eyeholes but it got a small black paint at the tip of its nose.

Extra hands
Joker have a total of five extra hands and all of them are really useful. Joker can hold his knife either in his left or right hand. He also got a pair of open hands for poses and one trigger hand for his gun. I really wish he also got a hand that's holding his mask.

Morgana
And lastly he got Morgana. This tiny figure looks really good and painted really well. He only got one articulation point and that's on the head. Yup he can look around but his body is static. Still it's a nice addition to Joker's accessories... accessory to the crime, get it!? I'll stop now.

Display stand
Joker can stand on his own but he came with a standard and very useful Figma display stand in case you want to stylishly pose him.

Stand extension
The stand also got an extender so that the articulated coat can move freely.

Morgana's display stand
Here's the display stand for Morgana, it's in two pieces and the "rod" that supports him is a little thin so be careful not to break this part when you attach it on the figure and the base.

ARTICULATIONS

Just imagine he's taking off his mask and he's holding it.
This is the first Figma figure that I got that have complicated character design. So let's see how the Joker's design affects the articulations of his Figma figure.

Yeah looking smug, Joker... LOL!
The head is on the Figma-standard ball-hinge ball-joint hybrid articulation. It can look side to side without any problems. It had difficulties looking up because of his hair. He can look down just fine.

Pointing a gun to interrogate a shadow.
The arms moves really well but have limited movement when crossing the chest because of the soft jacket. This figure needs those ratcheted joints so that the jacket cant push back the arms. Anyway, the arms can fully rotate and raise sidewards around 90 degrees.

Holding a knife.
No bicep swivel but the shoulder and elbow joints can do that.

Refitting his glove after a successful All-out Attack.
The elbows have a nice bend that's more than 90 degrees. The hands are on a small ball-hinges that moves really well even with the cuffs on.

He's about to summon a Persona.
This figure doesn't have any chest articulation, but it's possible to have that. GSC just decided not to put that articulation.

Sneaking in the palace.
But it got a very nice waist joint that have a very good movement range. It can turn and twist side to side. It can go forward and back really well too.

Drawing his gun from his coat.
The legs also have nice movement range. Joker can do some high kicks because the pants have a floating piece that's made of soft plastic, this part also have cuts for more movement range.

Dodge this bullet!
The legs can almost do the splits. The legs can raise forward a little bit more than 90 degrees and can go far to the back.

Ready to stealthily stab an unsuspecting enemy.
The legs can twist on the socket, you can also swivel the calves using the knee joints.

Dashing with knife on hand.
The knees are single-hinged and have a good bend and it doesn't look bad.

Going down to land.
The feet have good movement range. They can point up and down well. The feet pivots in an angle making it difficult to make the figure stand properly on its own.

The inseparable duo
The bottom parts of the coat can also move thanks to the ball-hinges.

SCALING

Time to compare Joker's height with some of my figures.

Joker with D.Va
First, Figma to Figma. Here you can see Joker with D.Va (Overwatch). Yup, he's a tall dude.

Joker and Neku
Joker is taller than Neku Bring Arts figure. Now that's a nice scale comparison.

QUALITY ISSUES

I didn't encounter any major flaws and missing pieces on this figure. The only issue that I found is that tiny speck of a paint on the mask.

CONCLUSION

Yup, Joker is a pretty cool Figma action figure. It looks really stylish and came with some good amount of accessories including a Morgana figure with an articulated head. I had fun posing him because of its articulations and having those interchangeable accessories really helps me pull a cool pose for this figure. His price is on mid-range but I got this figure for a very low price because it's not MISB. I recommend that you pick up this figure especially if you like cool-looking guys or if you're a fan of the Persona franchise. Don't worry if the stores ran out of Persona 5 Joker figures, this figure will get a re-release, I think sometime in December 2019.

It's been a while! Here's a toy edit!

I am thou... Thou art I...
Cheers and Happy Collecting!
