Family Celebration at Dickey's Barbecue Pit

It's our 2nd wedding anniversary and at the same time, our baby is now 2 months old. The weather is cloudy but without any sign of raining, so we went out to celebrate. This is our first celebration outside as a family.

We want to eat somewhere new, so we went to Dickey's Barbecue Pit. Dickey's is a Texas-style restaurant established in 1941.

They have a nice selection of food on the menu and the prices are reasonable enough.

We entered inside and here's what the interior looks like. We went here on weekdays so there are fewer customers inside. I bet this place is packed during the evening and weekends.

Here'es their menu, The burgers are mouth-watering. You know me, I love my burgers and sandwiches but I didn't go for burgers this time. Maybe I'll try some the next time we visit.

My wife ordered this peached iced tea. We shared this drink. It tastes good and refreshing. The sweetness is good, not too sweet but sweet enough for me.

Here's the appetizer, the Classic Home Style Chilly Nachos. Wow these are amazing and tastes great. The chilli sauce is spicy but not too spicy. The jalapeños adds more taste which I really like. These nachos are pretty heavy though so we have to take the leftovers home.

We ordered the Two Meatplate dish. We can choose the meat that we like. I ordered Smoked Chicken Breast and my wife had the Texas Brisket. The meatplate have Texas barbecue sauce and a small portion of onions and pickles on the side. We tried both meats and they taste great too. The Texas BBQ sauce adds more to the flavor.

The meatplates comes with rice. We can also choose which type of rice to eat. We chose the BBQ rice and ordered another one. Looks like the rice is lightly fried on chilli and BBQ sauce. It tastes great and heavy because of the sauce and beans.

We also got Onion Rings as a side dish. I love onion rings and these doesn't disappoint. Too bad it doesn't have a dip, so we dipped them on the meatplate's BBQ sauce.

These are the food we ordered. We enjoyed our late lunch there while we take turns carrying our sleepy 2 month old baby. The food tastes great. The food serving is big and heavy so the prices are justified and we received all our orders in a few minutes which is awesome. I think the early afternoon weekday time contributed to that because of the fewer customers. We just became Dickey's repeat customers and we want to come back as soon as possible.
