Shooting Sun

If my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra can take clear moon photos, why not try it with the sun?

I was waiting for my wife to clock out from her walk, then I looked at the setting sun that shines bright orange with lots of clouds around.

Since I don't always have my DSLR with me. I grabbed my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and took some sun photos.

After taking that far shot of the sun. I had an idea - if my smartphone can take clear photos of the moon, then I should try the sun.

I tried to get a clear shot of the sun but the power cords are blocking the way. But every attempts gives some interesting result. Look at that eerie glow.

I tried to zoom in a bit and I get a better zoomed photo of the sun. But the cords are still blocking it.

The sun is getting lower and less blocked by the cords, but the clouds this time gets in the way.

Now in this photo the sun cleared the cords and is now partially blocked by a cloud. Look there's a bird in this shot.

I tried to zoom a bit more again and I got this awesome shot. Even though the sun have a cloud in front. It got more detailed.

This is the last photo. The clouds partially covers the top area of the sun. But here's something cool that I noticed on the photos that I took. See those, small spots below the clouds? They just remained there even though the clouds move, it's not part of the debris or power cords either (check the other photos in this post to prove myself). I think those are sunspots! It seems that the Galaxy S21 Ultra can take kinda detailed photos of the sun too. I need to do some tests next time, but it's the rainy season.

Now while it's still amazing to get this detailed zoom photo of the sun. I know the tricks of this phone that I used. This phone uses AI and post processing algorithm to take (or make) a super clear detailed photo of the moon. So it's kinda fake, but still awesome. What surprised me that it's not just the moon, but also the sun. I guess the phone have some algorithmic info on the sun. If you checked out my post about my moon photos, there's a single sun photo there. It was also taken during sunset while we are on the mountain and it's foggy (volcanic fog).

Cheers!
