[Toy Review] Seated Nanamo - Final Fantasy XIV Mascot Figure

I requested this little toy from my older sister in Canada months ago and now it's here! This is the Final Fantasy XIV Mascot figure of Nanamo Ul Namo and she's in sitting pose. She's a character from Final Fantasy XIV. She's the 17th sultana of Ul'dah, she's royalty. And no, she's not a kid, she's a Lalafell - a race of cute little people of Hydaelyn (FFXIV's world). To be specific she's a Dunesfolk Lalafell and she's in her 20's.

"Beloved subjects, I bid you to raise aloft the torch of Ul'dah, that her flames might serve as a beacon for all Eorzea to see."
~ Nanamo Ul Namo ~

PACKAGING

Front and back of the box

The box of this seated Nanamo figure is windowed-type. The front shows the figure itself through the viewing window. The sides have different product shots of Nanamo, it also have the emblem of Ul'dah's Grand Company, Immortal Flames and the FFXIV title. No product shots at the back, just a sketch of Nanamo and lots of texts mostly in Japanese.

Sitting on top of her box for some fresh air.
Packaging includes: Nanamo figure, a paper containing some warnings

THE FIGURE

To view this Nanamo figure much better, I'll need something for her to sit on. By the way for a tiny figure, it sure have some weight.

Viewing Nanamo on 4 sides
As you can see, she is highly detailed, kudos for the guys that sculpted this figure for giving it more detail and pretty awesome paintwork. Nanamo looks good on any angles.

Aww, she's cute!
Her face is really accurate to her in-game counterpart. The paint application is really clean. The green eyes looks fine, the lack of pupils proves that she's a Dunesfolk Lalafell.

Nanamo's headpiece
Her gold headpiece looks good. It's detailed and decorated with bright lavender colored jewelry. The center jewelry is crooked though.

Hair and back-hairpiece looks good.
The back of her head also have a headpiece that ties her light pink pigtails. The hair with pigtails looks great and there are some highlights and the shadings are almost invisible.

Nanamo's dress
This is her dress as seen on FFXIV. It's brightly colored and have lots of folds/wrinkles for detail. The tiny green gems and three huge jewelry are nicely painted and there are no extreme shadings around the dress. She looks like a female Onion Knight because of the shape and color of her dress.

Impressive details!
The gold parts are painted very well. I really like the design and detail of the gold parts of the dress.

Nanamo's back
There's another gold part at the back of Nanamo's dress. It's also detailed but there are some red paint on it, it's not that noticeable unless you look closer.

She got tiny arms and hands.
Nanamo's short arms looks nice and nicely painted. The bowed pink ribbon on her cuffs are soft but looks fragile.

Tiny boots
Her red boots looks simple but decorated with gold studs and a single bright lavender jewel on each boot. Their outsole is gold.

Bottom view
This is Nanamo's bottom. It's flat so that this figure can sit properly on a flat surface. Still, SQEX put some details underneath, like the gold part and few wrinkles.

ACCESSORIES

Unfortunately this figure doesn't have accessories but you can find and use some random little toys like tiny gold chalices or any classy things like a fancy chair or more gold kitchen utensils and stuff for Nanamo to use.

ARTICULATIONS

Nanamo doing a speech.
What's surprising is that while this Nanamo figure is just sitting, this is not a static figure. it's poseable. SQEX put some articulations on it making this Nanamo figure technically an action figure. So let's talk about this figure's articulations.

Sitting on Cindy's toolbox.
Nanamo's head can tilt and turn around just fine thanks to the ball-jointed neck.

"Hello!"
Both arms can rotate, and don't worry if the arms gets detached. You can easily re-attach them to the peg holes

[left] Looks like she needs a hug.
[right] Surprised!

The elbows can swivel for more movement range. The hands rotate along with the elbows.

She saw something from a distance.
Yes, both legs can move as well by swiveling left and right so that this figure can have few different sitting variations.

She want to have some company
This figure have limited articulation but I think it's passable because you mostly see Nanamo sitting on a chair or on Raubahn's arms and shoulders.

SCALING

Here's another surprise. This figure measures around 3 inches and Lalafells are short people that have the height of 2'10" to 3'4". So if you compare this Nanamo figure's height with the larger Play Arts Kai figures...

The royalty trio.
Sultana Nanamo with Prince Noctis and Princess Lunafreya. They're the "Royalteam"!

Three different races: Viera, Lalafell and Hume
The Sky Pirate Fran and the Judge Magister Gabranth guarding Nanamo.

Looks like she got two huge stuffed toys.
Comparing Namamo with some of my Trading Arts Kai Mini figures - Warrior of Light and Ace - just for fun.

If you just place this Nanamo figure along with your Play Arts Kai collection, she'll pass as one unless someone takes a closer look.

QUALITY ISSUES

Don't be alarmed if the arms and or hands gets detached when you pose them, they're not made to lock on the figure so you can just re-attach them. There are no serious quality issues on this figure.

As I mentioned earlier, the center jewelry on her headpiece is crooked, it can be fixed by heating the part then straighten it.

CONCLUSION

I researched a bit and this figure is sold during the FFXIV Fan Fest 2017. I had no luck finding it here in the Philippines so I asked my sister to order one online at SQEX merch site for me (Thank you ate/sis!). Luckily it's on sale at the time too, $24.49 ($35.00 shipping fee which is a pain in the ass). This seated Nanamo figure is the closest thing that we will get as a FFXIV action figure. Its sculptwork, details and scale are consistent with large scale Play Arts Kai figures. I'm happy to have one and I'm still hoping for SQEX to make actual FFXIV PAK action figures.  By the way, I love the FFXIV MMORPG even though I haven't played it for a long time.

Here's a little comic. It's been a while!
Nanamo meets Barret
Cheers and Happy Collecting!
