[Toy Review] SQUALL LEONHART - Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia Trading Arts

Got another one of those Dissidia Opera Omnia Trading Arts tiny figures. This is a blind box and lucky me that I didn't get a duplicate. What I got is Squall Leonhart the representative of Final Fantasy VIII. I just got one DFFOO TA figure today so no transparent version to include in this review.

PACKAGING

DFFOO Trading Arts is a blind box. You don't know what you get until you open it. At this point, I don't think SQEX will continue this series, which is unfortunate because I want to get all the characters from the game.

Packaging includes:
- Squall figure (unassembled)
- Display stand
- Instructions

THE FIGURE

Squall's pose is similar to Cloud's with his Gunblade resting on his shoulders. The only difference is that Squall's left hand is posed on his hips.

Viewing Squall in different sides.

This little figure looks really good and really detailed.

Squall's scarred face.

The face/headsculpt looks really good. The face is not derpy and that scar is nicely printed on Squall's face. The hair is nicely sculpted and have shadings.

Squall closer look.

Squall's Dissidia look is more stylized than his original FFVIII game look. He's got an extra white fur clothing accessory located on hiss right waist. And a more stylized white undershirt.

Squall's jacket.

The jacket have lots of wrinkles same goes for the undershirt that have a black v-neck collar. Squall's necklace is really detailed too.

Jacket's backside.

The white fur collar on the jacket looks nice and have really good sculpt.

Does he sweat a lot in his clothes?

Squall's wearing mostly black and it looks really hot. I mean hot in temperature. There are some glossy parts in this figure.

The Gunblade.

The Gunblade is really detailed but the lion-esque etching is not present on the blade.

Squall's pants.

The brown belt have a good-enough paintjob and the silver buckle have, what it looks like, a lion's face sculpted on it. The right leg have a couple of straps with silver buckles.

Shiny shoes.

The black shoes are glossy and have some details on it.

ARTICULATIONS

The only moving part here is the head.

Squall's looking to the left. Kinda looks like his victory pose.

The head can look around really well. It can fully rotate with no obstructions. It can look up and down well and can tilt side to side.

SCALING

Time to compare this Trading Arts Squall figure with my other two DFFOO TA figures.

Cloud, Squall and Lightning.

I think Squall have a nice height, he's taller than Cloud. Lightning looks kinda taller when it comes to eye level.

Big and Small

If you compare Squall's TA figure next to his Play Arts Kai action figure... well, just look at the pic above.

QUALITY ISSUES

No quality issues found on this TA figure that I got.

CONCLUSION

Squall is a solid addition to the Dissdia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia Trading Arts figure set. He looks good but his colors are black and white, making it easier to review this little figure. But it makes up for the lots of detailed sculpt. Now my DFFOO tiny figure collection is looking really good now that I got three of them, time to hunt the last two and that's Zidane and Tidus and probably their transparent versions.

Cheers and Happy Collecting!
