This is going to be a very quick review because this Trading Arts figure of 9S from Nier: Automata is so small and super deformed (SD) it looks simple when it comes to character design. Anyway 9S is a support android that helped 2B in the game.
Front and back of the box.
The box of this Nier: Automata Trading Arts figure is really small. The front looks simple and shows 2B, 9S and A2 in front. The sides shows which characters you can get in the series. This is a blind box and you don't know what you'll get. The back show just a wall of text mostly in Japanese.
Packaging includes:
- 9S figure (unassembled)
- Display stand
- Instructions
THE FIGURE
The figure is really small and its chibi or SD (super deformed) character design is similar to the character designs used in Pictologica and World of Final Fantasy. By the way, the 9S figure that I got doesn't have a blindfold on.
Looking at tiny 9S at four sides. |

ARTICULATIONS
Yes, this little thing have one articulation (the head) making it technically an action figure.
Looking up. |
SCALING
Wondering how small this Trading Arts figure is?
Differently sized toys. |
QUALITY ISSUES
The only quality issue is that black speck on 9S face.
CONCLUSION
The Trading Arts figure of 9S looks really cute and it's cheap. I want to collect these type of Trading Arts figures because they static figures with an articulated head. The Pictologica and World of Final Fantasy style character face design makes me think that this is SQEX's answer to Funko Pops. It also makes me want to play chess using these tiny figures as chess pieces LOL! I wish SQEX makes more of these.
Cheers and Happy Collecting!
