He's a very good friend of Noctis and he's serving him since childhood (like a butler). He's the cool and calm strategist of the Chocobro's in Final Fantasy XV. Also he's the chef and driver of the group. He is Ignis Scientia and I got his Play Arts Kai action figure. This is a 2nd hand figure but hey, I now got all the Chocobros.
"He may not yet grasp the gravity of his calling,
but once he does, he will rise to the occasion and fulfill his destiny!"

THE FIGURE
Viewing Ignis. |
Ignis have a slender body. He looks like an average tall, rich and handsome guy (or celebrity) because of his simple character design. He's the most normal looking with the rest of the Chocobros.
Ignis' bespectacled face. |
Ignis' face looks great. It's handsome but about 90% accurate, it needs to be a little tiny bit wider. It got nice skin tone and shadings, I just don't like how red the lips are. The brushed-up spikey hair looks good and nicely painted and shaded.
Iggy's specs |
Ignis is wearing glasses. It looks good and it's painted black with little silver details. You can see Ignis's pretty (kinda girly) eyes behind the specs.
Ignis' Crownsguard fatigues |
Ignis is wearing is custom-made Crownsguard fatigues. It doesn't look like fatiques, it's more like a coat and a buttoned shirt. The coat is made of soft, flexible material. It looks nice and have a mix of glossy and super glossy black paint application. The collar have nice rough texture. The buttoned shirt underneath also looks nice and have cheetah patterned spots around it.
Back of the coat |
The back of the coat looks normal. No quirky design found here. The coat have some cuts on the shoulder area for the arm articulation. By the way I remember the coat controversy of this figure: where the back underneath the coat is hollow and showing the upper torso joint. But to see that, you need to almost break the upper body.
Coat sleeve and silver glove |
The arms looks good. It got some wrinkles, mostly on the shoulder to elbow area.
Cuff skull buttons |
The three silver buttons on the coat's cuff have skull-looking engravings.
The coat's studded pockets and skull buttons |
Same goes to the coat's front buttons and side pockets. The side pockets haver silver studs on the lid.
Belt with tiny skull buckle |
The belt is pretty glossy. Its silver buckle have tiny gold skull at the bottom part.
Sleek pants |
Ignis' pants looks normal too and wrinkled at the bottom. It got nice glossy trim on the side.
Back view of the pants |
The back pockets have rough textured lid, just like on the coat's collar. and the left back pocket have purple hue that makes the colors of the pocket inconsistent.
Nice shiny shoes. |
Ignis' pair of shoes looks nice. They're glossly and looks leathery thanks to the sculpted details.
Bottom of the shoes |
The bottom sole is mostly red with few treaded parts. They also have three circles.
ACCESSORIES
This Ignis PAK figure come with basic set of accessories. He got two identical daggers and a total of 5 extra hands
Ignis' stuff |
Ignis can also use spears in the game. I wish SQEX included at least one secondary weapon and few random accessories like his coffee mug and recipe booklet complimented with an extra hand that holds a pen.
Avengers |
The Avengers twin daggers looks nice and shiny. These daggers are highly detailed. The daggers have metallic silver paint application. Some parts have glossy black paint applied. The daggers have little shield-shaped part that are painted blue with white stripe. To make Ignis hold the daggers, you need to remove the daggers' grips then slide each of them in the gripping hands then reattach the grips on the daggers.
Extra hands |
The extra hands looks good. They look like Michael Jackson's gloves. The gloves are silver at the backhand side. The palms are black.
Display stand |
Here's the display stand. The instructions for the figure and this stand is on the cardboard packaging. I'm not gonna use this.
ARTICULATIONS
Calm and serious. |
Time to test the articulations of this Ignis PAK figure. I bet he's fun to pose because of his slim design.
Thinking of what dish to cook. |
The head have no problems moving. It fully turn around, look up and down with good range and it can tilt side to side. Gap is revealed when you tilt the head way far to the sides. The neck looks long and it's also articulated with a nice range of motion.
Preparing himself to drive the royal car. |
The shoulders have ball-hinges for articulation. They move well and they can cross to the chest without any problems.
Ignis being cautious. |
No bicep swivel but both arms can swivel on the ball-hinge. The elbows and wrists uses ball-hinges. They have no movement problems. The elbows have a nice bend and the wrist can make the hands tilt and swivel. The coat's cuffs doesn't hinder the wrists from moving.
Planning a strategy. |
While the undershirt doesn't have articulation cut, the chest can still move. The undershirt is made of soft plastic and it feels thinner than the coat. That makes the chest move a little better when doing an ab crunch or bending backwards. It looks seamless but I prefer a chest cut for the articulation because it gives the figure's chest more movement range. The chest of this figure have difficulties when turning/tilting side to side.
Daggers ready. |
The waist articulation moves well. It can turn and tilt side to side well enough.
Fighting stance. |
Thanks to Ignis' sleek and slim pants, the legs can kick very high and can go up forward well. Moving the legs up sideways is really good, Ignis can almost do the splits. The legs can only go backwards in one click, moving another click backward forces the joint.
Ready to charge at the enemy. |
No thigh swivel but the legs can twist on the joints.
Spinning attack |
The knees are double-hinges. They have a nice bending range but they reveal some cavity on the legs when they're fully bent.
Crouching attack pose. |
The feet have ball-hinges. The bottom end of the pants are soft but still lessens the movement of the feet. Both feet can point up and down with only one click. They can click more depending on how they're posed. They can swivel and pivot too.
SCALING
Time to compare Iggy figure's height with some of my PAK figures. I'm excited!
The Chocobros |
First, of course, the Chocobros! They're finally complete! Anyway, Ignis is taller than Noctis and Prompto but shorter than Gladiolus. I think the height comparison is good.
Ignis with the Daemon Hunter, Oracle and Mechanic |
Ignis with a couple of Sky Pirates and a Judge Magister. |
Ignis with the FFVII main guys. |
Ignis is taller than Zack and Cloud (AC). Ignis and Vincent (DoC) almost have the same height when it comes to eye level.
Ignis with other girls. |
Lightning (LR:FFXIII) have awkwardly short height in this picture. Lara Croft (RotTR) and Tifa (FFVII:R) are shorter but their scaling is tolerable when compared with Ignis.
Fun fact: did you know that Lara Croft sometimes appear in the pictures in FFXV?
Real vs Fake. |
Lastly here's Ignis next to his Bizarro/Bootleg counterpart. The bootleg one have shorter neck that make it shorter than the authentic version. I can finally put the bootleg in the storage or mod it to look different, but I'm too busy to do that.
QUALITY ISSUES
There are no quality issues found in this figure. Just be careful to attach the grips of the daggers, because I've read and heard that the daggers' grips are the most fragile.
CONCLUSION
The Final Fantasy XV Play Arts Kai action figure of Ignis is a really good figure. It looks great and most of its articulations have great movement range (except for the chest and feet). The accessories are standard, no extra stuff and I wish there are more. But hey, the Chocobros are complete! This also makes my FFXV PAK collection complete... well the game version is complete, I still don't have Nyx from the movie. Gotta find that guy.
It took me a while to finish this review. Lots of stuff happened and I had a burnout, but here's a little something.
Ignis; "Your car is ready, sir. Drive safely." Noctis: "You're not coming? It's gonna be fun." |
Car used in the picture: New Bright 2009 Audi R8 R/C car (not yet modded)
Special thanks to Sir Chino Santos from Play Arts Kai Philippines FB group for selling this Ignis figure to me and kind enough to pay half of the delivery fee.
Cheers and Happy Collecting!
