ITEM PICK UPS: Replacement Faceplates for FFVII Remake Play Arts Kai Tifa Action Figure

The new replacement faceplates for the controversial Final Fantasy VII Remake Play Arts Kai Tifa Lockhart action figure are here. Time to compare them with the original faceplates.

The new faceplates.

The faceplates came packed together so you can't really choose each faceplates. I suggest you inspect every faceplate pack available and get the best looking pair of faceplates. I got a good pair of faces. They got some factory dust that can be easily wiped off.

Old and new.

Here are the old and new faceplates. The new ones are less glossy and have lighter skin tone. The lips of the new ones are less glossy too compared to the super glossy lips found on the originals.

Smiling face.

The new smiling faceplate looks much better than the original. The eyes now have the same size, they both look bigger and have lighter and kinda reddish irises. The eyebrow looks thicker and that's good compared to the old one. I like the new smiling faceplate.

Angry/serious face.

Both old and new angry/serious faceplates looks good. The new one have higher eyebrows, light reddish irises and a wider lower lip. I prefer the old one here because the new one doesn't look angry or serious. In my opinion, the new one looks skeptic/suspicious, like Tifa has the impression that she found out that Cloud is cheating on her. Try using the new angry face and cross both Tifa's arms then give the head a little tilt to the side to see what I mean.

Here's both old and new smiling faceplates on the figure. Which is better? By the way, the picture of the old faceplate on the left have lighting error, it's too bright so I adjusted it a bit to match the colors of the photo on the right.

There you have it. Which faceplates are better, the old or new? I prefer the new smiling face and old angry/serious face. Note that the new faceplates are found on the June 2021 release of the Tifa figure. If you have the February 2021 release of the Tifa FFVII Remake PAK action figure then you can get the new replacement faces on the store (if they have them) where you ordered your figure. I don't know if the stores have different method on claiming the replacement faces. But for the basics: have your receipt and old faceplates ready. Some stores might require you to surrender the old faceplates to get the new ones. In my case, I got lucky to keep the old faceplates. DataBlitz SM Bicutan branch (Philippines) just required me to show my receipt then I got the new faceplates.
