It's my wife's birthday so it's time to celebrate! We went to a Taiwanese restaurant called Din Tai Fung.
Din Tai Fung is located at SM Mall of Asia (Philippines). It got a wide selection of dishes. But their best seller is the Xiao Long Bao, a small, bite-sized meat bun filled with meat and broth.
The place is huge and always packed with customers.
You can see the crew at the back preparing the food for transparency.
There's a quote here from Wall Street Journal that probably describes the Xiao Long Bao.
We ordered and the food came fast. The first to be served are the Roasted Garlic Pork Xiao Long Bao and a regular Pork Xiao Long Bao. These little things tastes great. You can dip them in a mixture of soy sauce and rice vinegar with ginger.
We also ordered these "tonkotsu-like" pork with fried rice for my two godchildren. To be honest I also want to try that.
We also got sweet and sour pork to be shared with the whole family. It tastes really good.
My sister ordered these fried dumplings. I haven't tried it but they liked it.
This is what I ordered. Spicy Braised Beef Noodles. It tastes great but I don't like the beef tendons which are really soft and tastes great by the way. I forgot to choose what part of beef to be put on the noodles so the crew went for the default option. The noodles tastes really good and I managed to finish the dish, minus the beef tendons which I shared with my wife.
My wife ordered Stir-fried Noodles that tastes really good.
For desert, we ordered these Chocolate Xiao Long Bao's.
It looks like a regular Xiao Long Bao on the outside...
...but take a bite, it is filled with melted chocolate that tastes really good and familiar. Kinda reminds me of Belgian chocolate.
We and the kids enjoyed our birthday lunch at Din Tai Fung. Can't wait to go back and try their other dishes.
Cheers!
