[Toy Review] MOBILE DOLL SARAH - Gundam Build Divers High Grade

Here she is. So far, this is the last Gundam girl model kit from Gundam Build Divers. This is not a Figure-rise Standard model kit but a High Grade (HG) Gunpla and she is Sarah or Mobile Doll Sarah. If you're still watching the anime and haven't reached to the final episode, this model kit spoils the show's story. So I recommend that you watch the anime till the end. Now let's proceed to the review.

"It's happening. I'm going... to join them."
~ Sarah ~

PACKAGING

Front and back of the box.

The design of the box remains consistent to the other Gundam Build Divers kits. The front shows two artworks of Sarah in her Mobile Suit mode and Real Mode. The back shows nothing... I wish they put some graphics on there.

One side of the box.
The sides shows more stuff like the product shots of the Sarah model kit and lots of texts and info about the character and the story.

Time to build a Gundam girl.
Packaging includes:
- Lots of parts/pieces separated in sections
- Sticker sheet
- Instruction manual

Recommended tools:
- Nippers
- Scissors/X-Acto knife (or something similar)
- Sanding tool
- Acrylic paint and paintbrushes (optional)

Be careful when you use model building tools. If you're a kid, have a parent or older sibling to assist you while building Gunpla or any model kits. And read the instructions properly especially when applying water-slide decals on the build.

THE BUILD/FIGURE

If you're wondering why Sarah looks robotic. Well... I don't want to spoil the story, so sorry.

Viewing Sarah on four sides.
Sarah looks really good. She's kinda back-heavy because of her very wide dress/armor but she can stand without the aid of the display stand if you got her center of gravity. Her colors are very bright.

Sarah is an adorable character.
I defaulted her Real (human) Mode The face looks really good and I used stickers for the eyes. Her bangs are pale blue. Her head armor is also pale blue just like her hair. There are some purple colored parts there like the "headband".

Sarah's hair armor.

The back of the head shows a large head armor part that looks like a long flowing hair. I used stickers for the side antennas (purple) and the rear camera (green) found at the back of the head.

The "hair armor" part have a couple of fins. They're articulated.

The dress that looks like a full metal armor.
Sarah's dress armor are mostly white with some purple parts. I just noticed while reviewing some of the kit's photos that this kit have different finishes and texture on the white parts. There are some details like panel lines and a large armor piece at the center of her abdomen.

Sarah's backside.
The back also have some panel lining for detail.

Sarah's pendant.
Sarah have a purple ribbon that also looks like a collar and an armor piece around her neck. The front shows a circular part that resembles her pendant.

A large purple bow.
The back have a bow that's why I called this part a "ribbon-collar-armor".

Sarah's arms.
The skin tone looks nice on this figure. The arm have a long white sleeves with a large round armor cuffs.

Nice two-toned hand.
The hands have purple fingers and a white armor piece.

The wide skirt armor.
The skirt part of the dress armor opens very wide and this part reminds me of two mobile suits: Gundam Kimaris (especially the color scheme) and Qubeley. It's like she's the combination of the two.

The back skirt armor.
It's dual-layered, white on top with purple bottom The skirt armor have eight parts. The back skirt armor resembles Qubeley's back skirt armor.

The skirt armor looks like a flower or fairy wings when opened.
The four white parts of the skirt can split open.

The back have two white skirt armor that resembles wings.
Those parts are located at the sides and two at the back.

Sarah's legs.
The legs are all purple. It got some details like panel lining.

Very feminine mech heels.
The feet have heels and have nice simple details. Both foot also have a front armor piece.

ACCESSORIES/OPTIONAL PARTS

She doesn't really do much in the anime because she's a supporting character that have a major role in the story. She got an alternate mech face and a couple of extra gripping hands. She got some optional parts for the shoulders.

That's all of Sarah's accessories/optional parts.
Why she have a mech face? Well because this kit have two forms: Real and Mobile Suit (MS) form... it's a spoiler. This HG kit of Sarah have very few accessories. I wish Bandai would release some effect and accessory parts for her because the ending shows her awesome MS ability.

The mech face and the visor.
The mech face looks really cool. I used stickers for the front camera on the visor and eyes (green). The face is white and have purple jaw. A single antenna that resembles her small ahoge is located at the left side of the visor.

Mobile Suit mode shoulder parts.
These are the optional shoulder pieces. You need these if you want to completely convert Sarah from her Real mode to MS mode. You need to disassemble the chest and arms to replace the skin toned shoulder parts to the white MS parts. The MS shoulder parts have shoulder armor that are articulated.

Gripping hands.
Sarah only have two pairs of hands. I defaulted her open hands and she got an extra pair of gripping hands, you know for holding something like Gunpla weapons/accessories. I wish she have two more extra pair of hands.

Display stand.
Her display stand is made of clear plastic. It's almost invisible in the photos.

ARTICULATIONS

How cute.
Sarah is really armored up in this kit which might affect the movement of some of her parts. Let's test out her articulations.

Singing while reaching out.
The head is on double ball peg and can fully rotate. It can look up and down a little bit. It can tilt side to side a bit too. The long hair armor have a polycap so it's articulated. I said earlier that the fins on this part can move too.

Stretching her arms.
Both arms have butterfly hinges so that the arms can cross the chest. The arms can fully rotate. Go up and down sidewards. They also have bicep swivel.

Just flying around.
The elbows are double-hinged and have a really nice bend. And the hands have ball pegs and can turn and pivot or tilt.

She really likes to float and fly.
The chest can move surprisingly well. It can turn side to side and twist and the front armor piece doesn't hinder the movement because it's on a hinge. The waist is only on a hinge but it moves well enough.

Mobile Suit (MS) Mode.
There are seven moving parts on the skirt. The front and side parts have a ball peg. The white side armor can move really well while the bottom purple side armor can move a little. The two white parts at the back part of the skirt can move, they have ball-hinges that can swivel up/down and twist around. The bottom purple armor at the back doesn't move.

Weilding Nami's Nipper Javelin
The legs have limited movement because the bottom purple parts of the skirt doesn't move. The legs can raise forward/back a little bit and can't do the splits. Both legs have a twist on the joint and have lap swivel. The knees are double hinges and have a really good bend.

Casually running around carrying a weapon/tool.
The feet can point up very high and point down just a little. The can rotate side to side and they can pivot a bit. The armor piece on both foot can move.

Sarah without her skirt.
In case you're wondering. Sarah looks good even without her skirt armor. Her legs have wider range of motion but there are holes around her abdominal area where the skirt parts are connected. You can customize the kit to make Sarah look like she's wearing a body suit by covering the holes and repainting the parts with any color you like.

SCALING

Sarah is a short girl and the shortest character in Riku's force in the anime. So let's compare her HG model kit with the other two kits that belong in the Figure-rise Standard line.

Momo is missing.
Well, Sarah almost have the same height when comparing her with Nami and Ayame. That's not accurate but I'll let it slide for a reason that because she have a Mobile Suit mode.

QUALITY ISSUES

Nope, no problems on the build, the joints are pretty tight and won't flop down anytime soon. No warped pieces on the runners and pieces too.

CONCLUSION

High Grade Mobile Doll Sarah is a nice addition to my collection of Gundam girls. She can go side to side with the Figure-rise Standard builds but she's made a little too tall, probably because this is an HG Gunpla model kit. If they're making a FRS version of her in her "human" look, she should be shorter. Speaking of FRS, where's Riku, Yukio, Momo and Koichi? Anyways, the kit is really good and really presentable. It will look better when you apply some markers to panel line some of the its details. Some parts have limited movement because of the character's design. It lacks accessories which makes sense for something that appears only at the end of the anime. Still, I wish for some effect parts though. This kit is really cheap and I recommend this if you like the anime or just like building model kits.

Doing her pose from the box's artwork.
Cheers and Happy Collecting!
